Battle of Cotton Creek

The Battle of Cotton Creek was a small battle along the Cotton Creek in Nooteland. It was a decisive victory for King Dogmeyer's army.

The Battle

Buildup

After King Dogmeyer's loss in the Battle of the Testorban Gulf, he needed another way to take the gulf. He decided on using the element of surprise. Dogmeyer had allied ports in the Duchy of Ferb, so he sent his ships to be docked there. After preparing for the invasion, he set off to access the Testorban Gulf through Cotton Creek.

The 6th Nooteland Skirmishers

The 6th Nooteland Skirmishers were, at the time of the battle, not an organized/recognized regiment in the army. They were made up of militia members defending their homeland with whatever weapons they could find. Most of the dogs that fought for the Furpaw State Coalition in this battle still make up the majority of the regiment.

The Fight

As Dogmeyer floated down Cotton Creek, the villagers of Nooteland started to notice who he was. Most of them weren't brave enough to do anything about it, though. However, there were a small group of dogs who were willing to fight Dogmeyer. They got their muskets and started firing at the ships, hitting one of the exposed crew members. At first, Dogmeyer and his fleet didn't take much notice, but as the fire persisted, they shot their cannon at the Nooteland skirmishers. It destroyed nearby buildings and Nooteland soldiers within the cannon's line of fire. However, the skirmishers did not back off. They kept up a steady fire, taking cover and moving with the ships. Now taking a considerable amount of casualties for the small amount of dogs attacking him, Dogmeyer stopped his ship and had his marines go to shore. They made a loose formation and utterly destroyed the skirmishers, as they had no training whatsoever. The remaining skirmishers fled, and the marines returned to the ship.

Conclusion

Dogmeyer continued his passage into the Testorban Gulf, which ended in the 2nd Battle of the Testorban Gulf. The dogs that fought against King Dogmeyer that day applied to create a skirmisher regiment, and were accepted into the army as the 6th Nooteland Skirmishers.
